Sainsbury’s Great Boughton won with 91 points. The store was “bright and welcoming” with “seasonal offers and a real buzz”. There were “plenty of staff on hand to help”, all 33 items were available and overall it was “a very enjoyable trip”.
Tesco Basildon was “noisy but that wasn’t unexpected for the weekend before Christmas”. The store was “bright and tidy” and had “good displays of not just festive things”. There was a good range of facilities and all staff experiences were good. There were no queues at the checkout and the “only annoyance were the online shopping trolleys clogging up the aisles”.
Not far behind Tesco this week was Asda Huddersfield. It had “good seasonal offers in the entrance” while “shop floor staff were friendly, approachable and knowledgeable”. At the checkout, a “member of staff was pointing to checkouts with the shortest queues”.
Waitrose in East Grinstead had two car parks and one was across the road. It did however “offer a carry-out service” for those parked there. The store “looked clean and festive but it was quite tidy”. The aisles were very narrow, but “staff were friendly and helpful and the checkout was clean, with plenty of packing room”.
Morrisons Radcliffe came last this week but with a respectable score of 68. Our shopper was offered a mince pie, which was a good start. The store is “older but generally well maintained”. Unfortunately, “staff had no access to electronic data and it took seven-and-a-half minutes and three staff members to find out that some frozen yoghurt had been discontinued”.
