Winner – Belazu Ingredient Co Sour Cherry Molasses
Judges admitted they could have drunk the whole bottle of this fantastic product, which utilises a sour cherry flavour highly popular in Greek and Middle Eastern cuisine, yet an untapped choice for molasses. This version uses molasses sourced from Turkey, a region known for its pomegranate and cherry production, and incorporates two sour cherry varieties, the dark red Kutahya and Katirli, for both a sweetness and tartness.
The result was an unequivocal hit, with the product described as “exceptionally flavoursome” and versatile, with the potential to fast turn into a cupboard staple for more adventurous consumers. Its innovative flavour profile, with a great sharpness, makes it the perfect addition to a huge variety of dishes, both sweet and savoury. Even better, it’s served in an incredibly easy-to-use format that will no doubt see the product added to many shopping baskets looking for something both delicious and innovative.
