Winner – John West On the Go Tuna Honey & Ginger Super Salad
This recent addition to John West’s Super Salads range made for a “very strong product”, said judges, that tasted great, was substantial enough to curb hunger pangs and delivered great value too, particularly when compared to lunchtime alternatives like sandwiches. A “lovely, fresh, zingy aroma and textured visual appearance” made for an appealing food-to-go option, while the fact it could be eaten straight from the dish eliminated fuss and maximised convenience for busy consumers looking to grab and go.
Not only is the product high in natural protein, low in saturated fat and one of the recommended five fruit and veg per day too, it’s also gluten-free, another characteristic that garnered praise from judges, who regarded it as something “genuinely new” for the category.
Well-priced, ultra-convenient and sold in recyclable packaging, this was an incredibly well-thought-out product that tapped into a number of different macro trends, while not forgetting great taste too.
Highly commended: Peperami Chorizo
