What's it like to work for your company? Brilliant. I have the luxury of working with something I love beer and wine and also have the advantage of a very supportive head office team which makes my very high workload more manageable than you'd expect.

Why is it a good employer? As well as proactively looking to keep staff happy and motivated, the company strives to help each member improve and expand their skills and knowledge.

How does the company differ from its rivals? We pride ourselves on our independence. Our customers are important to us and while price may be important, the quality of the products we sell is paramount.

Is there a definable company culture? Yes, although the company is growing, it has definitely retained an overall feeling of being a family-run business.

If the company were a car what would it be and why? A Jaguar a prestigious, sleek running machine, ready to pounce.

What's the training like? We offer induction training for all new employees; and courses from wine-tasting techniques and customer presentations to fork lift truck, warehouse, first aid, and health & safety training. The business supports staff looking to gain training and qualifications in other areas.

What's your proudest achievement over the past 12 months? The launch of the Quilmes brand from Argentina. We took on the ultra-premium lager in January and have been working hard to generate listings in both the on and off-trades. With a listing in Tesco and the brand already starting to become a style bar favourite around the UK, it's exciting to work on a product I feel can become a leading brand in the UK.

What is the most important HR issue? It's quite a nice situation to be in really, but due to the business growing rapidly over the past few months, it has become apparent that additional staff are needed if we are to continue this growth while supporting our customers effectively.

What tips would you offer jobseekers? Show a willingness to work hard, be adaptable and enthusiastic. I look for staff who want to be rewarded for success rather than people who expect it handed to them on a plate.

Is the company working on anything exciting? Our world beer expansion has been the key focus this year with the brands Quilmes, Alhambra and Kaiserdom being added to our existing beers Cruzcampo and Krombacher.

I would not rule out one more launch this year if something interesting came along as there are some fantastic brews around at present. And while the company specialises in Europe for its main wine portfolio, it has recently taken on the agency for Highfield wines from New Zealand. For me they are the best-quality wines I have ever experienced.
