Carlsberg-Tetley has unveiled a £750,000 press and poster advertising campaign to coincide with the start of the Six Nations and Tetley's Rugby Super League season.
The campaign is part of the brand's Year of Sport programme, and features two executions which compare a pint of Tetley's with the smooth kicking of England Rugby Union's fly half Jonny Wilkinson and Andy Farrell, the captain of Great Britain Rugby League and Wigan.
Carlsberg-Tetley has tried to align its brands with sport throughout the year and signed a number of deals.
Tetley's has agreed a new three-year deal with the Scottish Rugby Union starting this season. In the last two years, Tetley's has forked out a large tranche of the beer's £12m marketing spend in promoting its Total Rugby sponsorship.
Carlsberg will also continue to be involved with football by extending its sponsorship of the Liverpool football team. "Retailers recognise the role sport can play in impacting sales of beer," said Carlsberg-Tetley's customer development director, Chris Phillips.
