A consumer website has been set up to name and shame companies that use so-called "temper tantrum" additives.

The site, www.actiononadditives.com, lists more than 275 food, drink and medicine products - brands and own label - that it claims contain colours or a preservative identified as a cause for concern in a recent FSA study.

Action On Additives campaigners said the site was designed to help parents avoid the additives, which are linked with hyperactivity in children. It also hoped the initiative would encourage companies to reformulate their products.

"There is a real sense of outrage, as well as a strong desire to see things improve," said Anna Glayzer from Action on Additives. "We call on manufacturers to remove these unnecessary and unwanted additives."
