The Confectioners’ Benevolent Fund has appointed Malcolm Carter director general, succeeding Lionel Cashin.
Carter said: “My major responsibilities will be running the charity and fundraising for the 1,350 beneficiaries it supports annually.”
Carter will join in January and said the role would take up two days a week. There will be a handover period when he will work alongside Cashin, who will leave on February 11.
Carter will remain MD of his consultancy and food import business, Bettamore Foods.
Before setting up the company, he worked for wholesaler Nurdin & Peacock for 31 years, rising to become assistant MD until it was taken over by Booker in 1997.
