Scotch Whisky distiller Edrington has created two new board positions following a review by deputy chief executive Ian Curle.

Graham Hutcheon, previously distillation director, has succeeded Ian Curle as group operations director. Curle was promoted to his present post in May. He is being groomed to succeed Ian Good as chief executive next April (The Grocer, May 31, p14). Good will continue as chairman.

Bill Farrar has been promoted to group sales and marketing director. He was previously responsible for the growth of The Famous Grouse, The Macallan and Highland Park brands as managing director of Edrington’s Highland Distillers division.

Farrar replaces Barrie Jackson, who remains on the board, but moves from sales and marketing director to the newly created post of group strategy director.

Curle said: “The intention is to achieve continuity of management.”
