The company behind one of the weirdest technical developments in the drinks market for years is marketing its product in Europe.
Dynamic Design developed the technology behind Ikon, an energy drink from New Zealand which has the vitamins and minerals contained in an effervescent tablet housed in the cap of the bottle. The tablet is only released into the drink when the consumer pushes a plunger, which doubles up as a drinking straw.
Ikon was produced by Rio Beverages which has just been bought by Coca-Cola Amatil.
Michael Coory, MD of Dynamic Design, said interest in his technology was so great he was opening a production plant in Switzerland to meet expected demand from European licensees, opening next April.
