Salmonella has been found in a brand of tahini - a savoury paste made from ground sesame seeds.

The Food Standards Agency has warned that 310g jars of Morphakis Tahini - Crushed Sesame Seeds, with the best before date of December 31 2006 could be contaminated.

The product - which has withdrawn from sale by the Cypriot importer - has been on sale in cash and carry stores, delis and specialist food stores across England and at one outlet in Cardiff.

Consumers who have purchased the product have been told not to eat it and to throw it away.
