Own label dried herbs, spices and seasonings supplier British Pepper & Spice is to spend £1.5m promoting its own chilled brand, Gourmet Garden.
The push will include the company's first foray on TV with an ad spearheading the marketing drive in the run-up to Christmas.
Gourmet Garden was launched in 2000 and consists of 120g tubes of squeezable basil, coriander, garlic, ginger, chilli, chives, parsley and lemon grass. The new ad, set to be aired in the Central region, features the slogan Who can resist a little squeeze?'
Chief executive Ian James said: "We pioneered the category of squeezable refrigerated herb and spice blends and now have sales of more than £5m. We are expecting to see a healthy growth with this latest push, culminating in a £10m brand by 2005."
The company is adding a ninth variety, Mixed Herbs, this month.
