A Facebook campaign by Kingsmill has revealed Britain’s 10 top locations to have a picnic lunch.
The Allied Bakeries brand ran the Lunch Spots campaign to support its sponsorship of the annual Big Lunch, which was held last weekend and is designed to get people across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours.
Run in conjunction with national tourist boards such as Visit England & Visit Wales, Kingsmill asked consumers to name their favourite place to eat lunch and received more than 10,000 entries that were whittled down to a shortlist of 25 by a panel of judges. Consumers were then asked to visit the Kingsmill Facebook page to vote for the 10 that should make the final list, which comprises:
- Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland
- Belfast City Hall
- Blakeney, Norfolk
- Box Hill, Surrey
- Coast Road, Barrow in Furness, Cumbria
- Cow & Calf Rocks, West Yorkshire
- Elan Valley Reservoir, Mid-Wales
- Lower Slaughter, Cotswolds
- Rhosneigr Beach, North-West Wales
- Stokes Bay Beach, Hampshire
“Retailers should take note of which spots are local to them – and use this as an opportunity to drive sales of lunch products, particularly during the summer holidays,” said Allied Bakeries category director Guy Shepherd.
