Lemongold.com, a website that offers speciality and premium products to the trade, is being revamped to extend the offer to consumers and is due to go live on October 1.
The business, based in Burnham, Buckinghamshire, says it will offer between 350 and 400 premium products that are about two years away from being listed by the major supermarkets, offering a competitive difference for independents.
Lemongold.com was launched as a trade-only site last October but it will be divided into two next month with different price structures for the trade and the public.
The Grocer understands that the site, founded by managing director Ruby Spolia, a former food industry PR, is in talks with wholesalers, including Bestway, with a view to linking their sites to Lemongold.
Wholesalers’ customers would be able to link up with the facility for Lemongold-listed products. Wholesalers would earn commission on each purchase without having to take delivery of stock.
