Parfetts Cash & Carry remains on track to open eight Local 4U stores by next summer following the opening of its sixth store in Bulwell, near Nottingham , this week.
The 2,000 sq ft store is on the site of a former DVD-rental store.
"This was the first store that we have developed without having an existing store and customer base to build from," said operations manager Richard Mason.
"Our research shows that it is in an ideal position with a great catchment area from a nearby housing estate and a busy main road with no other convenience store nearby serving the community."
The store has a 500 sq ft Subway concession, an off-licence, a cash machine and hot drinks station supplying takeaway teas and coffees.
Its bakery, sandwiches, fresh fruit and vegetables are all supplied by local manufacturers.
