First there were alcohol-infused sausages. Now it's the turn of soft drinks with the launch of bangers mixed with Irn-Bru.

The launch from Scottish butcher Stuarts of Buckhaven is the latest in a line of sausages enhanced with classic drink brands to have hit the shelves recently, including Debbie and Andrew's Pork & Ale sausages with Newcastle Brown Ale and a Scrumpy Cider & Bramley Apple line from The Black Farmer.

The two-strong range of sausages - named Iron Brew - gained the approval of the producer of the carbonated drink, Barr Soft Drinks, as long as the trademark Irn-Bru was spelled differently.

The Pork Iron Brew Bangers and Pork Sweet Chilli Iron Brew Bangers will initially be sold from the butcher's 19 Fife outlets.

It's not just drinks getting into sausages. Last month sausage producer Broad Oak teamed up with Unilever to create Marmite and Bovril bangers.
