The director of food and drink at Scottish Enterprise Jonathan Tait is leaving the organisation.
Tait was unavailable for comment as The Grocer went to press, but a spokesman for the agency said: "Jonathan has decided to take the opportunity of a reorganisation to explore new opportunities outside the organisation.
"He will be leaving at the end of November and steps are already being taken to recruit his replacement."
The flamboyant Tait joined Scottish Enterprise as head of its food and drink team in June 1996 and was immediately involved in helping the Scottish meat industry through the BSE crisis. He worked to unite and promote Scottish food and drink manufacturers within and outside the UK as part of the organisation's food and drink strategy, launched in 2000. He presided over many projects to help small to medium-sized Scottish food and drink manufacturers and the launch of several training schemes for the sector.
At the beginning of this year, Tait helped launch the Scottish Food and Drink Conference and Excellence Awards. Tait moved from Renfrewshire Enterprise to join Scottish Enterprise.
