The Grocer Big 30 wholesaler Blueheath has announced that James Ward, MD of wholesaler AC Ward & Son, will join the business following Blueheath’s takeover of the group earlier this week.
Ward is expected to support the integration of the AC Ward & Son business into Blueheath’s operations. The wholesaler said Ward would effectively assume the role that Chris Philp previously held before he left last year to set up Clearstone,
a recruitment and training company for distributors. Philp was Blueheath’s business development director.
Ward has been MD of AC Ward & Son since August 2002, when he stepped into the role in preparation for the retirement of his father, Jonathan Ward.
Separately, Blueheath has appointed Andrew King to the newly created position of director of buying. King has been working with the delivered wholesaler in a consulting capacity since June. He was previously buying director of convenience chain T&S Stores.
Blueheath said King had made a valuable contribution in supporting the integration of wholesaler CTM, which Blueheath acquired in March.
Colin Smith, chairman of Blueheath, said: “The scope and scale of the business has expanded considerably in the past year. Andrew is a significant addition to the management team, having had extensive experience in the sector.”
Michael Collyer, head of Nestlé’s UK nutrition business, has been appointed chairman of the Infant and Dietetic Foods Association, replacing Rupert Maitland-Titterton.
Imperial Tobacco has appointed group sales and marketing director Graham Blashill as a member of the PLC board. David Thursfield has resigned as a non-executive director, while Simon Duffy and Sipko Huismans will retire after the group’s AGM next year.
Helen Keays has joined Majestic Wine as a non-executive director. She is currently a non-executive director of media company Chrysalis Group and Britannia Building Society.
Tate & Lyle has appointed Robert Walker as a non-executive director. He is currently chairman of WH Smith and Williams Lea Group.
