The managing director of Tryton Foods - owners of Aunt Bessie's frozen food brand - left the company with immediate effect this week.

Neil Sanderson had been with Hull-based Tryton Foods for the past four and a half years. Prior to this he was MD of W&R Jacobs (Irish Biscuits), part of Groupe Danone, for three years.

And before that he was acting sales director for Jacobs Bakery in the UK after being promoted from general sales manager.

Sanderson, who has over 16 years experience in the food industry, told The Grocer it was a mutual decision to leave his post. Sanderson added that he was planning to take time off before seeking new employment, but would like to remain in the food industry sector.

In September Tryton announced it was re-launching the Aunt Bessie's brand with a £5m marketing spend and a new premium range called Aunt Bessie's Best.
