With hardly the most encouraging of names, Ugly Plums have been launched by Marks and Spencer under its Ripe and Ready to Eat range which concentrates on flavour. Unusually the fruit is graded Cat II, but the label draws attention to the fact that the fruit may not be as smooth or unmarked as other varieties.
