A deal to sell Unwins could be on the table within three months after “significant” interest from more than 50 parties, according to chairman Michael Lunn.

The wine merchant has issued an information memo containing confidential information about the company to potential buyers, and set a deadline of August 9 for them to register an interest.
Consumers may be familiar with supplement capsules that are designed to enhance or assist sun tanning, but a company in France has introduced a new beverage that performs the same function.

Marketed as Sun Water, or ‘l’eau bronzante’, it uses ingredients that are more likely to be found in skincare products.

These include aloe vera, beta-carotene and co-enzyme Q10, as well as high levels of the antioxidants lycopene and vitamin C.

Being water-based, the beverage contains just 0.5 kcal per 100ml and virtually no carbohydrate.

Sun Water was launched in time for the summer season but could potentially sell throughout the year as a ‘beauty beverage’ offering skincare and nutritional benefits based on its active ingredients.

Many products in the suncare market carry a premium price and this is no exception. €2.30 for a 500ml bottle, the recommended nine-day course would cost more than €20.

The company behind Sun Water, MicroFluid Biotechnology, is also the brains behind new soft drink slimming aids MicroFluid and Slimfluid, for which it has secured a listing with Selfridges.

MicroFluid Biotechnology has also recently launched NicoFluid, a smoking cessation water that is based on various plant and herbal extracts, and appears to be seeking to create a niche market for a wide range of functional, water-based beverages.
