Supermarket group Waitrose has made a number of key changes to its buying team.
As part of the reshuffle, Suzanna Duke has been promoted to the role of head of buying services. She is currently central buyer for household and petrol, and will take up her new role from September 11, based at Waitrose’s head office in Bracknell, Berkshire.
Also based at Waitrose head office will be Mark Williamson and Paul Walker, who will assume added responsibilities from July 31 following the retirement of Vince Hull as Waitrose’s head buyer for bakery and food service.
Williamson, who is head of buying for grocery, wines, beers and spirits, adds bakery buying to his role.
Williamson joined Waitrose in July 2004 from Thresher Group, where he was trading director. He has also been trading director and procurement director for Sainsbury.
Walker, head of buying for chilled prepared and frozen foods, will take on Hull’s food service buying responsibilities.
Meanwhile, Richard Jones has been promoted to head of buying systems. He was previously head of technical support for Waitrose Systems.
He is replaced by Steve Smith who is promoted from systems manager in the support division.
