Bestway expects its new and improved Sher Bros Cash & Carry depot to be fully operational in July.
The wholesaler acquired Sher Bros in April and has been carrying out extensive building work at the Glasgow depot.
The trading space of the depot is being doubled to 100,000 sq ft. Several new departments, including licensed, chilled & frozen and world foods, are also being introduced. A dual-branded Bestway & Batleys Wholesale sign - the first for Bestway - was installed on the exterior this week.
“The response from customers has been phenomenal even though we are currently working with limited space,” said Bestway operations manager for Scotland David Livingstone. “Sales are up over the last few weeks. Customers really love the inclusion of the new chilled and alcohol sections and have really got behind the Best-in own label.”
Meanwhile, Bestway has reported a 16% hike in Q1 sales for its Best-one symbol fascia on the back of growth of 10% and 15% in the last two quarters of 2013, driven by fresh, chilled and the My Rewards rebate scheme, said director of symbol James Hall.
