Unitas

Unitas Wholesale has awarded all employees a £500 bonus to help with the cost of living crisis.

The business said it was recognising the dedication and effort of its staff through the one-off payment, which comes in addition to a company-wide pay increase in April.

The Grocer understands the amount which employees received in the April rise differed depending on individual pay bands. However, it ultimately favoured those on lower wages.

The team was informed of the latest payment at a recent company away-day.

“Our employees are our most valuable asset and are at the heart of everything we do for our membership,” said MD John Kinney.

“It is with their hard work and dedication to the group that we continue our journey to become a more member-centric organisation, and it is right that we recognise their commitment to the organisation during such a challenging time.”

The announcement follows Unitas member Parfetts’ decision to award staff its own £500 cost of living payment back in June.

This week, the buying group elected Small Beer and Trentans Vintner MD Robert Eastwood and Global Foods sales director Qaiser Aziz to the board following the AGM.
