David Hitchens, manager of the Unwins in Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire won best off licence in the UK at this year's Off Licence of Year Awards organised by Off Licence News, sister publication to The Grocer, and sponsored by Carlsberg.
The best licensed c-store went to Kirti Shah of Milco Supa Saver, in Linthwaite, Huddersfield. Philip Amps, owner of Amps Fine Wines in Oundle, notched up a win for best independent specialist off licence.
Nottingham based John Jessop of Morrisons won best supermarket off licence department.
