Nestlé is to extend its Wonka confectionery brand into the kids' biscuit category next month with the launch of Wonka Xploder and Golden Cruncher. Their arrival coincides with the demise of novelty Wonka Oompa sweets  which included mashed potato flavour  after disappointing sales. Due to launch at the end of this month, the biscuits will be backed by a £1m support package including TV ads. Made from shortcake biscuits, Golden Crunchers have crunchy coatings while the Xploder variant features tongue-crackling' chocolate. Both will be available in six-packs (rsp: 79p). Wonkas Oompas were launched in June last year, but according to brand manager Andy McQuade were always expected to have a limited lifespan."Kids like to try weird and wacky products, but they are conservative and generally return to their tried and tested favourites," he said. {{P&P }}
