The Co-operative Group is selling its EPoS system to other retailers.
In a first for the society, it is offering retailers the chance to buy its InControl-Evolution system, which is used in more than 3,000 stores to control EPoS and store management.
The system allows users to mix and match applications such as stock control, shelf replenishment and mobile terminals, as well as the award-winning 'Wake-up on LAN' programme that switches off tills, receipt printers, screens, chip & PIN devices and barcode scanners when a store closes, and powers them up before opening.
"We are extremely proud of InControl-Evolution and the benefits leveraged through improved control, management information and scaleability," said director of information services Ian Dyson.
Meanwhile, a revamp of The Co-op Group's own-label health range appears to be on the cards. The society has trademarked The Co-operative Healthier Choice, suggesting a revamp of Somerfield's Healthy Choice own-label brand, or a replacement for the society's Healthy Living and Reduced Fat ranges.
The Co-op Group refused to discuss its plans, but a spokeswoman said: "As part of an ongoing programme of brand protection, from time to time we register names that we may, or may not, wish to use in the future but, more importantly, would not wish others to register. The Co-operative Healthier Choice is an example."
