Mars is relaunching its Dolmio Taste of Italy range and ditching the use of Italian regions on labels.
The overhauled range of pour-over pasta sauces hits shelves this week. A new Tomato & Chilli flavour will join existing cherry tomato & Parmesan, tomato & Chianti and tomato, basil & garlic variants (rsp: £1.69).
Two of the original range launched in 2007 have been delisted: Taste of Calabria, which was a spicy pepperoni & tomato sauce, and Taste of Rome, a tomato & ricotta sauce.
Mars has now removed the names of the Italian regions from labelling to help consumers better understand the ingredients.
Guideline Daily Amounts have also been added to the jars and the relaunch is being supported with a £700,000 above-the-line campaign focusing on the premium quality of the sauces and featuring TV celebrity Austin Healey. The TV ads will run throughout August.
