The Cotswolds Distillery has appointed ex-Diageo Scotch whisky director Richard Watling to head up the brand’s sales and marketing strategy.
Watling, who previously worked for International Distillers & Vintners and Allied Distillers, and held the post of chief executive at high-end wine merchant Justerini & Brooks, was enlisted to “grow our market share and expand trade sales in whisky and gin” said Cotswolds CEO Daniel Szor. “I’ve come to know him through The Distillers Company and have always been impressed by his great knowledge and drive.”
The fledgling brand began production in September 2014, launching its first single malt whisky this October - the first whisky to be produced in the region. Its Cotswolds Dry Gin is currently listed in Morrisons.
“The foundations of this distillery and brand are very strong, giving great potential for the future,” said Watling.
