What was your first-ever job? Like most kids, it was a paper round. This meant getting up at 5:30am and earning £4.50 per week!
What has been your worst ever job interview? I was once asked what the minimum amount of money I would ever work for was… guess what they offered me afterwards!
What was the first music single you bought? Living Doll by Cliff Richard and the Young Ones.
How do you describe your job to your mates? I use my daughter’s description of the job I do, which is ‘head of cutting, sticking and colouring in’!
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Having the freedom to turn an idea into reality very quickly.
What is the least rewarding part? Being in charge of anything that has the brand on it. That includes things like stationery, which means I make it my personal challenge to make it the best stationery in the world!
What is your motto? What we do in life echoes in eternity (Russell Crowe, Gladiator).
What’s your nickname? ‘Sir’. I once said the only reason I would ever become a teacher would be to be called ‘Sir’ and it stuck.
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? A villa in the south of the France for the weekends.
What’s your favourite movie and why? Gladiator. It has action, a great story and brilliant quotes.
What’s been the most embarrassing moment of your life? Complaining about someone in an email and sending it to the person I was complaining about, rather than the person I meant to send it to and having to phone up and explain!
Do you have any phobias? People scratching their nails on something.
If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be and why? I would make Miranda Hart head of HR. It would be hilarious!
If you could change one thing in grocery what would it be? More support for smaller innovative brands like ours!
What luxury would you have on your desert island? The complete series’ of 24 - and a TV!
What animal best reflects your personality and why? A polar bear. They get things done in challenging conditions.
