Anglo Beef Processors has bought Chitty Food Group's Guildford abattoir in a move it claims will give it an industry-leading geographical spread of sites.
The acquisition of the abattoir and boning hall follows ABP's acquisition of a site in Dorset in July. The new sites will give ABP additional processing capacity for 1,500 cattle a week.
ABP stressed it was not involved in an ongoing Trading Standards investigation into the Guildford abbatoir, where standard meat was allegedly passed off as organic.
