Fair play to Heinz. Its name is synonymous with baked beans but it hasn't rested on its laurels in terms of innovation. Although the pots contain 30% less sugar and 25% less salt, the flavour was not noticeably different which is a good thing. In fact, I think the sauce was slightly better than the standard canned version, with a more tangy flavour. I would definitely buy these over the standard cans, knowing that they are healthier. Four stars (out of five)

Until I taste-tested these new and healthier Snap Pots, I'd forgotten how good Heinz beans actually taste! These pots are so convenient. They snap and peel easily and cook in just under a minute. Given that each pot retails at around the same price as the tin, I'd say they were good value for money. An ideal lunch solution or a way to minimise the washing up at teatime with added health benefits. Five stars

The higher tomato content is evident, and I preferred the flavour with less sugar. I've always found Heinz's beans to be quite sweet. The Reduced Sugar & Salt Beanz Snap Pots launch was a simple but savvy move. Original Snap Pots marked an end to hours spent washing up bean-encrusted pots, and offsetting laziness with a sense of 5-a-day healthiness is one smart move. Especially as they are only 10p pricier than the standard versions. Four stars
