AG Barr has appointed former Britvic executive Dino Labbate to be its new chief commercial officer.
Labbate joins the Funkin Cocktails and Irn-Bru brand owner having spent seven years in various sales roles at Britvic, latterly as commercial director for its hospitality channel.
Before joining the soft drinks supplier, he spent close to five years at Burton’s Biscuits.
He began his career at Northern Foods in 2009.
Labbate brought “a wealth of fmcg insight and experience across all channels of the food and drink industry”, said AG Barr.
“This is a new role for the business and reflects our growth ambitions,” said AG Barr CEO Euan Sutherland. “Dino’s fmcg experience, enthusiasm and commitment has made an instant impact on the business. He understands soft drinks and has considerable knowledge across grocery, wholesale, out of home and on-premise, which will play a pivotal role in developing all brands in the business.”
Labbate added: “AG Barr has a rich history of success which, alongside the company’s bold growth ambitions, make this a brilliant opportunity for me to help steer our teams on the next chapter of AG Barr’s story.
“There’s so much potential in our portfolio which is already packed with incredible brands. I’m looking forward to supporting the business as we set ourselves up to win with current and future consumers.”
Labbate is just one of a string of high-profile departures from Britvic, after the supplier was acquired by Carlsberg Group.
The £3.3bn deal, which officially completed last week, has also resulted in the departures of Britvic CEO Simon Litherland and managing director Paul Graham.
Former CMBC boss Paul Davies has been appointed CEO of the newly formed Carlsberg Britvic.
