Aldi has launched a 1970s-inspired autumn clothing collection that includes key pieces such as quilted jackets and Chelsea boots.
The discounter said its range would help customers achieve “the Chelsea look” without breaking the bank - boasting savings of up to 60% on Next and 50% on H&M.
The grey ladies’ faux fur gilet retails at £14.99, while similar style waistcoats retail at £29.99 and £40 at H&M and Next respectively.
On the men’s side, Aldi is selling artisan boots at £19.99 - the most expensive item in the collection. This still undercuts rival products such as H&M chukka boots, which sell at £39.99, and Next’s £42 brown borg boots.
“Shoppers are looking to update their wardrobes at this time of the year and we’ve tapped into the latest high-street trends to offer our customers a great value range that doesn’t compromise style,” said Tony Baines, managing director for corporate buying at Aldi.
Supermarket clothing is increasing in popularity and accounts for £1 in every £10 spent on clothing, footwear or accessories, according to Kantar Worldpanel figures.
