Kixin aims to re-energise the energy drinks category by using unusual packaging and adding health benefits.
The non-carbonated energy drink sells in glass bottles, aimed at convincing consumers that Kixin is a premium, healthy product in a market dominated by fizzy canned variants.
Distributor Different Drinks said although the glass format was widely accepted in Asia, it was a first for the UK. It added that the non-fizzy product had proved popular in trials, with consumers saying that it was easier to
drink.
Sales director Tony Miner said: “Consumers are prepared to pay a premium for the convenience of a single-serve energy boost and we believe that makes Kixin an attractive new addition to the impulse drinks sector for UK retailers.”
Sourced in Thailand (where it is sold under another name), Kixin has active stimulant ingredients, caffeine and taurine, as well as added vitamins and minerals, including B3, B5, B6 and B12. A 150ml bottle has an rsp of £1.29.
Different Drinks aims to get listings in c-stores and forecourts as well as in the on and off-trade.
