Analysts hailed Cranswick "a safe haven" after it posted a 5% increase in like-for-like sales this week.
Total third-quarter sales at Cranswick, which makes meat and poultry products under licence for Jamie Oliver, Red Lion Foods and the Black Farmer, were flat year-on-year as a result of the transfer of its Morrisons business to Farmers Boy (Deeside), a joint venture with Morrisons. However, like-for-like sales increased 5% and like-for-like volumes rose 10%.
Cranswick would continue to "be a safe haven in potentially difficult consumer markets", said Investec. Shore Capital said it was not adjusting its current pre-tax profit and earnings per share estimates, which was "testimony to the resilience of the group's business model".
Cranswick acquired the freehold of its cooked meats plant at Wombwell, Barnsley, for £7.3m on 31 January.
