Last year's winners of the best small c-store category in the Booker Prize for Excellence went one better this year, claiming the best retailer prize. David and Sherran Patient, who also carried off the best small c-store award for the second successive year, were presented with their award at a ceremony at the London Hilton. The couple who run Nearbuys on Canvey Island, Essex, won £5,000 and will be taken on a study tour to Rome. Joining them on the tour will be: Best Off Licence, Alan Sagar and Penny Greenwood, Rainhall Drinks, Barnoldswick, Lancashire; Best Forecourt Shop, Patrick and Sarah Murphy, Premier Garage, Coedpoeth, Wrexham; Best Local Store, Sheila Anthony, Avery's of Arnside, Cumbria; Best Large C-store, Richard and Vida Owen-Thomas, Happy Shopper, St Clears, Carmarthenshire; Best Young Retailer, Shaan Chaudry, the Triple A Supermarket of Nuneaton. {{NEWS }}
