Asda has launched a seven-strong range of ‘roast-in-the-bag’ flavoured whole chickens complete with recipes to encourage use of leftovers.
Sold under Asda’s ‘Butchers’ Selection’ label, consumers simply pierce the bag once and place it in the oven.
Each pack contains a recipe idea for the use of any leftover chicken. An on-pack QR code also links to a series of recipe videos.
The new range had been in store for just over a week and was already “going down a storm with our shoppers”, said Asda head of meat quality, Jim Viggars. “Thanks to our new Simply Roast in the Bag Chicken and the leftover recipes which come with it, it’s goodbye to wasted leftovers and hello to another delicious meal – win-win.”
Flavours include Garlic & Herb, Piri Piri, Tikka, Extra Tasty, Sage & Onion Stuffed, Zesty Lime & Coriander and Smoky Mexican.
The range went into 500 Asda stores last week, priced at £5 for a 1.6kg bird.
