Asda is closing its chain of George stores following a four-and-a-half year trial.
It is part of a strategic decision by Asda to focus its efforts on its clothing and homeware chain Asda Living, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Ten of the stores, which are all situated in high street locations, will close within the next three months and the 11th store, in Manchester, will be converted into an Asda Living.
“We are very pleased with how Asda Living is performing and we believe it has great potential,” George MD Anthony Thompson told the paper.
“We believe that the out-of town format is better than the high street.”
