Aussie winemaker Australian Vintage is targeting foodies with a duo of new red wines.
Called The Butcher’s Cellar and comprising a Malbec and a Red Blend, the range was “designed for those who take pride in their culinary craft”, said Australian Vintage.
The wines have rolled into Sainsbury’s stores (rsp: £10/75cl).
The Butcher’s Cellar Malbec, sourced from Mendoza, Argentina, was designed to be paired with “lean meats like beef, turkey or chicken”, according to the supplier. It offered “a soft, balanced taste with fruit-forward notes and a touch of vanilla oak”.
The Red Blend, meanwhile, is made from grapes sourced from New South Wales, Australia. It offered “concentrated aromas of dark berries and vanilla bean, with hints of white pepper”, and was designed to be drunk alongside “slow-cooked beef, ribs or lamb”, said Australian Vintage.
Consumers were “increasingly seeking wines that pair well with meat”, said Oliver Hoey, senior brand manager at Australian Vintage.
The Butcher’s Cellar range was “created for those who see cooking as an art”, Hoey added.
“These wines are designed to bring out the very best in every dish, supporting home chefs who take pride in their culinary creations,” he said. “It’s a wine range that matches their passion and skill.”
Australian Vintage’s UK portfolio also includes brands such as McGuigan Wines, Tempus Two, Not Guilty and Barossa Valley.
