Bestway has made three new appointments to its leadership team as it seeks to boost support for independent retailers.
The wholesaler, which owns retail brands Best-one, Costcutter, Bargain Booze and Wine Rack, has hired former Morrisons Daily head of independent franchise and new business Nick Russell as head of symbol.
Prior to Morrisons, Russell worked for Costcutter for almost eight years in various roles, including head of new business and acquisitions. Bestway said his extensive experience in the field will be invaluable in supporting and growing its independent estate.
The wholesale giant has also appointed Steve Moore, formerly head of retail at Parfetts, as regional controller for Costcutter and Best-one in the Midlands and south Wales. He had also previously worked for Costcutter between 2005 and 2021.
Finally, Rodney Tucker has rejoined the organisation in the new business and acquisitions team, where he will drive recruitment across the south west and south Wales territories.
He most recently held the position of group sales director at Spar wholesaler Appleby Westward. Previous to this, he was Bestway’s head of sales and development for the southern region from 2016 to 2020, after holding the role as regional sales manager at Costcutter for 10 years.
“We are delighted to welcome back the very talented Nick, Rodney and Steve to their new roles within the business,” said Bestway retail director Jamie Davison. “They bring with them valuable expertise, knowledge and sector understanding that will support our growth plans and the service we offer our valued retailers.”
