Bestway has launched a new category management programme for independent retailers.
The programme, which is available in print and online, offers retailers category advice, planograms, must-stock lines and sales insight for stores.
Bestway said it had taken a “root and branch” re-evaluation of its category management process and had relayed the changes to several depots.
“Getting the basics right is fundamental to the success of any business,” said Bestway sales director Tony Holmes.
“For retailers this involves making sure the products on shelf reflect those that shoppers expect to see. Many retailers are stocking too many products that clutter shelves and confuse shoppers rather than focusing on the core ranges that account for the majority of sales. Core ranging and shopper promotions are the two most important aspects for retailers to get right.”
Category advice is currently available for petcare, frozen, health & beauty and medicines, Two new categories will be added every month.
“Much has been made of symbol and club retailers receiving greater support from manufacturers and wholesalers,” said Holmes.
“This free, accessible-to-all category initiative proves that, at Bestway and Batleys, we are still wholeheartedly behind our independent retail customer in helping them develop the sale and profit potential of their stores.”
