Bestway Wholesale has axed credit card transaction fees at its 60 Bestway and Batleys depots as well as across its websites and mobile app.
Younus Sheikh, Bestway Wholesale managing director, said retailers needed to work off healthy margins to be successful and profitable and they were coming under pressure from the multiples and discounters in many categories.
“Although promotions and price-marked packs help them compete, the margins on these are less than on standard packs or single sales.”
By waving the charge for credit card sales the group was saving its customers up to 2% on the cost of goods, claimed Sheikh.
“With competition becoming more fierce for our customers we want to ensure that we do everything we can to help them deliver organic and sustainable growth.”
The abolition of the fees is the latest of several measures the group has introduced over the past few months to help customers increase their profitability.
It launched its Price Pledge in March, which brought “everyday low pricing” on several “essential” lines.
The Great Rebate followed in April which continues until the end of September, offering a minimum rebate of 3% on category bestsellers.
The My Rewards scheme offers Best-one members up to 5% cashback on their purchases.
