Bidfood has launched a low-calorie dessert range so operators “don’t miss out on pudding profits”.
The wholesaler said its new Better 4 Me range caters for “health-conscious” consumers amid the increasing demand for vegan and free-from foods.
It includes a selection of desserts at less than 300 calories a portion, vegan tarts, and a gluten-free Chocolate & Olive Oil Cake.
A Lemon & Raspberry Ginger Crunch, Chocolate & Berry Truffle Torte, and Orange & Mousse Cake also form part of the new range.
“All too often we hear about operators missing out on potential ‘pudding profits’ as they’re not tailoring their menus to meet the changing needs of consumers,” said Bidfood category manager Rachel Cook.
“Over the past few years we’ve seen a surge in demand for ‘healthier’ and free-from dessert options. Consumers are increasingly aware of their health and their food choices, but at the same time they don’t want to miss out on an occasional treat.
“The Better 4 Me dessert range offers consumers an indulgent treat with the added benefit of being inclusive for all, regardless of lifestyle choice.”
In the first three months of 2017, 54% of the population bought a free-from product, according to Kantar Wordpanel.
