A UK wine importer aims to fill an emerging gap in the market for entry-level wines created by consumers turning away from the declining ready-to-drink category.
Paragon Vintners is launching Fresita, a blend of Chilean rosé sparkling wine mixed with Patagonian strawberries. The drink has no added flavourings or colourings and is targeted at females aged 25 and over.
The brand has already been launched in Latin America and has reportedly been a huge hit, especially in Argentina where the producer sells 500,000 cases a year. It has been trialled in the UK at tasting events.
Fresita follows a raft of sparkling rosé wines that have appeared on shelf in the past year as producers look to cash in on the growing popularity of both these characteristics with UK wine consumers.
"Both consumer and trade enthusiasm for the brand has accelerated since the summer trial period," said UK brand manager Caroline Thompson-Hill. "This positive response has brought forward the nationwide launch. Exciting consumer events are planned for next year."
The 8% abv Fresita is available in 75cl priced at £6.99 and a pack of four 18.75cl bottles for £7.95. Paragon has secured listings with House of Fraser and Peckhams.
