Wholesaling giant Booker has won a 10-year joint contract with DHL to supply 130 public sector prisons in England and Wales.
Booker will provide the prisons with a 750-strong range of products including tins of tuna, stamps and telephone credits, distributed by DHL.
Products will be picked, packed and bagged by 500 low-risk prisoners from 17 prison workshops, before being sent out by security-checked DHL drivers.
DHL will also provide training for the prisoners who will be able to work towards achieving NVQ qualifications in warehousing and logistics.
