Booths has appointed Paul Minett, the former head of retail at Best Buy UK, as its new retail director.
Minett, who joined the Northern supermarket chain following the retirement of David Benson, will be responsible for the day-to-day running of its 29 stores.
He has extensive experience in UK grocery having spent 20 years at Asda and four years at Sainsbury’s as regional operations manager.
More recently, Minett was UK head of retail at US electrical retailer Best Buy until it pulled out of the market in 2011 and has since been director of hypermarkets at Saudi Arabia’s Panda United Company.
“I’m looking forward to the challenges of making Booths a better business while remaining true to the core aim of selling great food coupled with exceptional service,” said Minett.
Booths chief operating officer Chris Dee added: “We’re pleased to welcome Paul to Booths and we are confident that he has the skills, experience, dedication and drive to improve and refine our store offering and take the business to another level.”
