Budgens has signed up to mobile phone operator O2’s hi-tech marketing campaign - Moments.
The retailer said its participation in the initiative potentially enabled it to reach up to five million UK mobile users.
Budgens got on board on 7 January by offering O2 Moments members a free 165g bag of flame grilled Spanish chorizo & roasted onion Walkers Market Deli Chips, worth £2.63. The promotion shows up on O2 Moments members’ mobile phone screens if they are within a five-mile radius of a Budgens store. Customers log on to the O2 Moments app to claim, click on the Budgens offer, then show their on-screen voucher at the checkout.
Anna Burleigh, Budgens marketing director, said more than 2,500 packs of Deli Chips had been given away and a further 7,000 O2 members had saved the offer ready for redemption. “This initiative fits with the ‘everyday discovery’ ethos of Budgens, which is all about surprise and delight.”
