The Co-operative Group is to launch a dedicated website for its in-store radio.
The society broadcasts The Co-operative Radio across its 3,000-strong food store estate and will now launch ‘radio pages’ on its food website, allowing shoppers to tune in online, ‘meet’ the DJs, view the playlist and request songs.
The launch will play a key role in the society’s ‘Christmas Kitchen’ – a virtual kitchen hosting competitions, information on in-store deals and recipe ideas. A radio on the counter of the ‘kitchen’ will link users to the radio website.
The Co-operative Radio is already a popular topic of discussion on the society’s social media pages, with staff and consumers using Facebook to request songs or comment on playlists.
Research commissioned by The Co-op last year suggested in-store radio could generate incremental sales of £5.3m.
