Coca-Cola European Partners has made a commitment to sustainability through a £14m investment in a new bottle and revamped label for Abbey Well spring water.
The environmentally friendly ‘twist’ format uses up to 32% less plastic than the previous bottle, and requires less energy to make and recycle.
It is also 100% recyclable, and encourages consumers to recycle through its front label messaging. A ‘Peel Me Here!’ prompt on the reverse provides more information on the brand and its bottle.
The refreshed packaging is rolling out now for Abbey Well still 500ml, 750ml sports cap, 250ml sports cap, and sparkling 500ml.
With the water sector continuing to grow, it was “more important than ever” to minimise environmental impact and encourage recycling, said Caroline Cater, director of operational marketing at CCEP.
“This innovation is a positive step towards our commitment of reducing the carbon footprint of the drink in your hand, and driving positive sustainable contribution to both the environment and society,” she added.
