French rail operator Connex has finalised details of a retail partnership which will launch 42 co-branded concourse c-stores.
E-Connex md Olivier Jenoc said the concept would launch under a Connex with...' fascia at Connex South East's Gillingham station on February 4. An integral menu board will list partners in the c-store project, which include the Post Office.
But Connex is keeping details of its retail partner under wraps as it prepares to launch the open plan pilot.
Jenoc said: "Each store will be opened under a separate contract with the parties involved, including Railtrack and the Post Office. We plan to work with the same retailer throughout. It will not be like one of its high street stores though. Connex will be the prominent brand."
Connex has already piloted c-store/ticket office sites with Spar at Leatherhead in Surrey and and Costcutter at Cooden Beach station in East Sussex.
Rival train operator Govia, which is taking over Connex's South Central franchise, is "very interested" in develop c-stores in the style of the Spar and Costcutter stores.
l The first Londis at a mainline station has opened in Farnborough, Hampshire. The 200sq ft store turns over £7,500 a week.
